The Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art
All educational programs offered by the Morse Museum are free of charge and are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis.
Home School Program
Bring your home school group to the Morse Museum and learn about the art of Louis Comfort Tiffany. The highlight will be a special tour through the museum's exhibition Windows and Wonders: Tiffany from the Morse Vault and Secrets of Tiffany Glassmaking. The tours are designed for parents or guardians and their elementary-aged children, and take place Tuesday mornings October through May. Each tour, led by a Morse Museum docent, lasts about an hour and includes gallery activities as well as a take-home activity. Participation is free. The number of children in the tour is limited, and reservations are required. For more information, or to make a reservation, please call the Education Department at (407) 645-5311, ext. 117.
Primary (K-2) Program
ABC's of Art Appreciation
Bring a museum professional into your classroom for a brief art history lesson and activity. These 30-minute sessions focus on the art and artists represented in the Morse Museum collection. The program is available on select dates October through May. All supplies are included.
Intermediate (3-5) Program
Inside the Mobile Museum
Developed by Hugh and Jeannette McKean and implemented in 1991, the Mobile Museum was designed as an introduction to the Morse Museum collection and the art of the late-19th and early-20th centuries. Today, this gallery on wheels visits area schools free of charge as an outreach and enrichment program of the Museum. Mobile Museum school visits are targeted for grades 3 to 5 and give students the opportunity to explore the wonder of collecting, art history, and art appreciation.
Exhibits in the Mobile Museum change periodically, but they generally include leaded-glass creations by Louis Comfort Tiffany, oil paintings, ceramics, and other objects from the Morse Museum collection. Curriculum units comprised of sequential lesson plans are provided prior to the Mobile Museum's visit and offer pre- and post-visit learning opportunities.
To arrange a Morse Mobile Museum visit (Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays, October through May), please call the Education Department. Be sure to book early for this popular program!
